Nouritza Matossian's one woman rendition of the life of Arshile Gorky encapsulates the essence of her magnificent biography of the painter and at the same time creates a quiet grandeur all of its own. As Matossian assumes the roles of women in Gorky's life- mother, sister, wife - the painter's inner world is vividly recreated. This arresting performance, through the simplest of means, leaves one with an impression of exquisite pathos and power.

Baret Magarian, Critic for the Independent

A fascinating subject and a mesmerising performance. Nouritza Matossian brings to the stage an honest, passionate portrayal of Arshile Gorky's life through the words of those closest to him. We are a captured audience as she weaves his story.

Bill McAlister, Former Director, ICA

A 'performance' which compliments and enhances the book in ways that leave one rereading and re-examining the work - understanding better the complexities of the tale, the times, and the history of Gorky and his people. Her grace and style, give a dramatic and forceful sense of the tale told, read, and understood. Patricia Smalley,

First Director, The David Rockefeller Fund
